In Christ Jesus

Unleavened Faith

A Fellowship in Christ Jesus,
IN the World, Not of the World

All Scripture Reference are KJV
unless otherwise noted

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Malachi 3:16

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

Ephesians 5:18-21

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Ephesians 5:18-21

Ephesians 5:18-21 is one complete sentence, and all within it should be taken in the context of the sentence. The context of the passage is part of the description of what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

It is part of the description of how we should walk in the Lord.

Ephesians 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

In this context, I would surmise, that it is speaking of attitude in general and toward others, that we do not put on airs thinking that we are better than anyone else. We should walk humbly together and, as it states in other passages, charitably toward one another.

1 Peter 5:14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

2 Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

Charity is selflessness, giving of one’s self. We should be charitable, kind, helpful, giving toward one another, and seeing to the needs of the needy. The failure of this injunction can be found in most Churches, the poor and downcast are unwelcome and uncared for.
