Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Christ is the light of the world, and he is still in the world in us. We must be that light shining forth the light of the gospel and the love of God to a lost and dying world.
When the Lord returns for His bride, the saints, in the Rapture, there will be no more light in the world. There will be those that understand that they missed the boat and know that worshiping the Beast and taking his mark means damnation, but they will be on their own to resist and choose martyrdom. Many will be in this situation because they believed salvation was by their works, now they will get the chance to show their faith by their works.
