Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 6:9
It is better to be content with what you have, what is in your sight, than to be constantly lusting after what you do not have, e.g., the grass is always greener on the other side the fence. The continual feeling of deprivation vexes the soul. Make the best of what you have.
1 Timothy 6:6-8 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
The serenity of contentment cannot be surpassed by obtaining your lust.
