Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

The Wise Men

The location of the wise men’s home, also known as the Magi, is a topic of debate and speculation. In Christian tradition, the wise men are said to have traveled from the East to visit the baby Jesus in Bethlehem, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. However, the Bible does not provide specific details about their homeland or origin. They themselves are not numbered; there being three is derived at from the three gifts.

There is no reason for the debate. If God wanted us to know or it was germane to the what the Lord was trying to tell us, He would has told us.

Over the centuries, various traditions and legends have emerged, associating the wise men with specific countries or regions. For example, in some traditions, they are referred to as Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar, and each is associated with a different region. Melchior is often associated with Persia, Caspar with India, and Balthazar with Arabia.

By my rudimentary calculations, the only place that would have taken close to two years to travel is the far reaches of China, home of the Han Chinese. The history of the Han Chinese people spans over four thousand years, back to the tower of Babel. The Silk Road was well in use at the time of Christ.

Matthew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Matthew 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

I am not making any claims, I will leave that for better minds, but if it did take close to two years to arrive they would have had to have come a long way. It is a curious factoid. Nonetheless, the Lord may not have wanted them there until two years later and not shown the star until then. As I stated it is a dubious topic of discussion.
