One thing that stands out in my mind concerning the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement, which I believe is contrary to the Bible, is their non-biblical emphasis on the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit does not speak of himself, nor promote himself, but rather glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:12-14 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Acts 5:30-32 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
In the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement, the Holy Spirit is often preached and promoted in the place of Christ Jesus. Just an observation on my part.
