Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

The great cloud of witnesses is chapter 11. Seeing we have the witness of their testimony of faith and trust in God we ought to be able to set aside every weight and sin that is keeping us from doing so just as they had to and run our race just as they ran theirs by faith toward God and the Lord Jesus Christ. If we feel faint in the way we are to look at what Christ endured for us.
Many in the world since then have and are resisting the evil with their lives, shall we not stand up with our brothers and sisters and be counted with the Lord?
Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
