A Fellowship In Christ Jesus
In the World, not of the World

All Scripture References are from the Authorized Version 1611 (KJV).

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58

There are many works to be done for the Lord.

  • Living correctly is one work.

Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

  • Acknowledging him in all things is a work oft forgotten.
  • Studying God’s word is a labor for the Lord.

The ultimate slight perpetrated against the Creator is not to listen when he speaks, to ignore his words, or to place less than the appropriate importance upon the study of them. The Bible is God speaking to us. When and wherever the Scriptures have been easily accessed as in most places in the world today, it will not be an excusable offense, when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, not to have read and diligently studied them.

  • Preach the word, witness to the lost.

Ezekiel 3:18 KJV When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

How does a saved saint not burn within himself to tell others of the grace of God he has received if not for a being a cold or lukewarm Christian: selfish, self-center, self-serving, fearful, cowardly, individual.

The most important verse in the Bible for the born again, blood-bought, saint is 2 Corinthians 5:10.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

We are going to give an account of the work conducted in during the time of our salvation unto our death or the coming of the Lord. Our works will be tried, whether we lived and worked for Christ Jesus or ourselves, whether we put him first or the things of the flesh and the world.

I do not think there is any great mystery to what the work is in 1 Corinthians 15:58. It is just a question as to whether one thinks ignorance is bliss.

The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand, we are obliged to act accordingly.
