IN the World, Not of the World

All Scripture Reference are KJV
unless otherwise noted

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Malachi 3:16

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

If Jesus was tempted, can he be God?

God cannot be tempted with evil; Jesus was tempted by the devil. Must we logically conclude that Jesus is not God or that either or both of James and Luke are false?

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

James 1:13-14

One has to read carefully. It is a play on the definitions of temptation. There are two sides to the temptation coin. Temptations can be set before you, but you do not have to be tempted by them. Men are tempted by temptation because they already lust after it in the first place. Christ was tempted by Satan, but he was not tempted by the temptations.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

God is not tempted by evil temptations; men, too many times, are tempted by the evil they are tempted with.
