unless otherwise noted

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Malachi 3:16

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

What is required to receive eternal life?

Does God require anything of us to receive eternal life?

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Micah 6:7-8

Our works have consequences in our everyday life. However, seeing that none have always done right, none are perfect, all are sinners, all fall short of the glory of God, eternal life is another question.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death;

There is a precept that must be understood and adhered to in order to interpret salvation correctly. All things were made to glorify God. If it does not glorify God it is a contempt of Him.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

God created man to glorify himself and the means of saving man must glorify God and not man. God, knowing he was going to create man in His image with free will, knew that would open the door for sin to enter the world so he provided the means to pay for all sin and opened the door for salvation to all men as His free gift from the foundation of the world. The means of salvation had to glorify God not man so the works of man could have no part in it.

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Therefore, all we are required to do is to believe God and put our trust in His salvation, Christ Jesus; this glorifies God.

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
