For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Hebrews 12:6
God punishes those that are his. In fact if he does not, you are not his.
Hebrews 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
We are not only held responsible for our sins and punished at times; those that are his will stand at the judgment seat of Christ and give an account of everything, every thought, from the time we were saved till we stand before him.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
If you have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, that he died for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, you are in no fear of damnation, but you will give an account and have much to lose.
