Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Malachi 3:16

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

Honor Bad Parents?

With regard to the biblical commandment of honoring one’s father and mother, should one honor them regardless of how they are like?

Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Ephesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

Your parents may be horrible people. However, as children, you still have to obey them. (If the parents are abusive you should attempt to let it be known and seek help.) When you are older and on or able to be on your own, you can disagree with them respectfully. There is always a line that can be crossed that makes it impossible. Today, the foundations have been destroyed; we are in a terrible state.

 If the foundations be destroyed,
what can the righteous do?

Psalms 11:3
