Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Malachi 3:16

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

Sin

Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.

Psalms 119:11

To not sin against God, a knowledge of what sin is would be mighty helpful. Most, if asked what sin is offer sin to be breaking God’s laws and they would be correct as far as that goes.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

What is amazing about sin being the transgression of God’s law is the fact we do not have to memorize or even know God’s law to fulfill it and sin not. All we have to do is treat each and every other person as we would want to be treated in any given situation.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

James 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

Man unto himself needs no law. It is the regulation of the relationship of one to another that requires law. So, fulfilling that law is simply a matter of doing onto others as we would want done unto us. However, man is never unto himself, we are in a relationship with God also and there are further definitions of sin that regulate that relationship.

Romans 14:23 … for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Proverbs 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin:…

Proverbs 21:4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

1 John 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin:

Be it noted and realized, Sin is not in the physical act committed, but the thought of, the desire of, committting.

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

James 1:14-15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Sin is conceived in the thoughts and intents of the heart. This is why the law cannot cleans us from sin.

It is hoped that this short study will help guide us in our daily walk.
