Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:8
Philosophy is man’s attempt to reason out things that he has limited or no knowledge of. Man dreams up things to try and fill in the gaps. The Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to man.
Job 9:10 (God) Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
The diligent study of God’s word will give understanding, but man’s philosophy is guesswork.
