Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Genesis 2:1-4
The account of creation has ended.
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Genesis 2:4
What follows is an encapsulation of the original creation and an expansion on man’s creation.
Genesis 2:5-6 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
The ceation of flora and fauna takes place, and now man.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
God plants the garden and puts man into it.
Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
God has not created the original artificial intelligence (AI), a son. With every new creation, the Creator test it. He sets Adam up for his first reason problem and choice.
You say you are a father. At some time when they were young and learning you would have tested them with a problem to see if they could reason it out and make the correct choice.
Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
He further test and plays with His son, as any father.
Genesis 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
This is not the original creation of the fauna but in the garden creating them from the dust to the wonder of His Son and to test the AI to see what it could do, reason out names for the animals.
The Lord creates a clone of the Man.
Genesis 2:21-22 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
All the above most likely did not all occur on the sixth day but continue on through time.
It might be stated that an awful lot is being packed into 24 hours. Nothing is impossible for God. Note also we have been and continue to devolve at an ever-increasing rate. The first man’s brain must have been a 100 times more powerful with much greater abilities: photographic-total recall memory, much faster computational capabilities, etc.
Regardless, Genesis chapter 2 is not a second account of creation, nor does it contradict chapter one. All the above most likely did not all occur on the sixth day but continued through time.
Chapter 3 could begin years after this. We know that God was want to walk in the garden in the cool of the day and obviously communed with the couple.
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Some suggest that Adam was thirty-three years old at the time of the fall, which seems plausible.
