Longsuffering

How would you define Long suffering?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

Longsuffering is to patiently put up with for a goodly amount of time, to either give one enough rope to hang oneself or enough time to come to one’s senses. It should be done in the hope of the latter.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Lord not being slack means there is a reason he has not brought judgment upon the world as yet not that he is slacking off on his promise of it. The reason is he is patiently waiting, longsuffering, putting up with us, giving men a chance.

It is an attribute of God and being in his image one we should also strive for.

Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
