For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:10
It has to do with the judgment of the saints, those saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. I put that definition in, as there are those who think a saint is something other than each and every one that is saved.
We who are saved have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account of our lives from the time of our salvation to our death or coming of the Lord; “that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” We will be rewarded accordingly.
We will receive rewards or lose rewards depending on whether we served God or the flesh (ourselves); “gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble”. Furthermore, we will suffer loss of rewards, not loss of salvation; “but he himself shall be saved”.
